Lurkers of the World, Unite!

Word on the street (thanks, John!) is that this is “National De-Lurking Week.” Wikipedia calls a “lurker” one in internet culture who visits interactive systems, but rarely joins in. Is that you? Well, welcome! I’m sure you have a nice reason for not saying “hello” back. If you’ve been stopping by my blog, but rarely add your two cents, here’s your chance to introduce yourself.

As a side-note, one of my 2007 resolutes is to leave my posts more open for discussion. And not so, “thus saith Jenelle.” I’m a work in progress.

If you have the time, tell me your name. And if you’re really feeling buff, let me know for how long you’ve been reading, and what you’re interested in reading more about. Grazie. Obrigada. Thanks.

Hi Jenelle, thanks:) You’ll be happy to hear I did join Emerging Women. Or at least I emailed Julie, and I got the email to join, which I’ll figure out soon. (I think I have to ge a blog.spot or whatever). I enjoyed reading your thoughts on spiritual warfare and several other people’s as well. Sorry, that’s kind of bad grammar. I am more than excited to get your letter in the mail and start writing letters again. And Lisa Borden sent me a letter today in the mail, thanks Jesus! I love her and it was good and made me cry. Freedom! We are so free! So I love you and I’ll talk to you soonish or laterish, and I hope you do something memorable during the three day weekend, like make pesto or walk in the wind or something. Heart!

Thanks for all the friendly “lurkers” sending me email messages rather than comments!

And thanks, Cari! I always love when you let me know you’ve stopped by. I hope I do get to walk in the wind this weekend. Looking forward to seeing you post on Emerging Women.

for the record, i don’t feel like people should feel pressured to comment on my blog. I do love it when people let me know they read it cuz it encourages me, but “lurk away” is what I say. I don’t see what the big deal is.

Lurking encourages my “mystery man” status…

Thanks, Lisa, Rach, Stew, and Sowada! For the record, there isn’t any big deal, I just wanted a chance to interact with people I rarely get to interact with! It’s been fun so far.

    I say “lurk away,” too.

  11. Susan says:

    Hi,
My name is Susan. I just realized that I’m becoming a lurker! I regularly read Melissa Boles’ blog, and today I decided to look at her list of “fellow sojourners”. Some of the names I’m familiar with. But this morning I decided to venture to one of the “unknowns”on her list and, ta-da! today was your day! I like your photos and, eventhough I’m not a whiz at navigating the internet, after trying for a few minutes, I finally found some of your writing! (haha! can you tell I’m proud of myself for finding my way around?) I saw your entry on Lurkers. And that’s when I realized that I’m slowly becoming something I’ve never heard of before (that is, in the world of the internet….I’ve always thought of them in dark alleys, etc)
So, I thought I’d let you know I “lurked” on you today and it was fun! Maybe I’ll come back again sometime.
Hope you meet more of your lurkers in the future!
    Susan (a lurker newbie)
